Mobile Truck Repair

Diesel diagnostics and repair brought to your truck — engine, electrical, air, brakes, and the breakdowns that strand a load.

On-site, done right.

Modern diesel trucks are sophisticated machines — engine management systems, variable geometry turbos, aftertreatment components, multi-circuit air systems, and complex electrical architectures that require more than a wrench and a guess to diagnose properly. Interstate Fleet Services brings commercial-grade diagnostic technology directly to your truck, whether it is sitting in your yard, at a customer location, or on the roadside. We plug in, read the codes, trace the root cause, and fix it on-site.

IFS mobile truck repair covers the full range of mechanical and electrical systems on Class 6 through Class 8 diesel trucks: engine diagnostics and fault code resolution, air system repairs (compressors, dryers, valves, lines), brake adjustments and component replacement, electrical troubleshooting (shorts, open circuits, failed sensors, lighting), starter and charging system service, and no-start diagnostics across all major engine platforms including Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, and Navistar.

Sending a truck to the shop means a tow bill, shop queue time, and a unit that is not generating revenue. IFS eliminates that delay by doing the work where the truck sits. Our service vehicles are stocked with diagnostic scanners compatible with all major OEM protocols, a broad parts inventory for common failure items, and the tooling to handle real repairs — not just a jump start and a wave goodbye.

What's included

  • Diesel engine diagnostics
  • Electrical & air system repair
  • Brakes, starters, alternators
  • Jump-starts & no-starts
When to call us

Signs it's time to dial.

  • Active fault codes or a Malfunction Indicator Lamp that is preventing dispatch or that the driver cannot clear
  • Truck will not start — dead, no crank, crank-no-start, or intermittent no-start after sitting
  • Air pressure warnings, slow build, or air leaks audible from the cab or chassis
  • Brake drag, uneven braking feel, or a brake violation found during a pre-trip that cannot wait for a shop appointment
  • Electrical gremlins: gauges reading incorrectly, accessories failing, parasitic drain killing the battery
  • Abnormal engine noise, excessive smoke, loss of power, or a derating condition that is reducing the truck's capability
How it works

One call to back on the road.

01

Call & Dispatch

Contact IFS at 1-888-589-9281. Provide the truck location, make, model, engine platform, and the primary complaint. Our dispatcher assigns the appropriate technician and service unit for the reported fault type.

02

On-Site Diagnostic Scan

The technician connects a commercial OEM-compatible scanner to retrieve all active and pending fault codes, live data streams, and freeze-frame data. This tells us what the ECM saw and what was happening when the fault set — no guessing, no parts-swapping on assumption.

03

Targeted Repair

With the root cause confirmed, we perform the repair on-site: replacing the failed component, repairing the wiring or air line, adjusting brakes, servicing the charging system, or resolving the starting fault. We carry commonly needed parts to handle the majority of repairs without a return trip.

04

Verification & Road-Ready Confirmation

After the repair, we clear codes, run the system through its operating range, and verify the fault does not return. The driver inspects alongside the technician, and we document the repair for your fleet records before the truck is released.

FAQ

Truck Repair questions.

Which engine platforms can IFS diagnose with on-site equipment?

Our diagnostic tooling covers all major commercial diesel platforms — Cummins ISX/X15, Detroit DD13/DD15/DD16, PACCAR MX-13, Navistar A26, and others. We read OEM-level data, not just generic OBD codes.

Can IFS handle aftertreatment and DPF-related fault codes on-site?

Yes. We diagnose DEF system faults, DPF pressure differential codes, SCR efficiency codes, and regen-related issues in the field. Some conditions require a forced regen or component replacement that we can perform on-site; others may require a shop procedure, which we will advise on clearly.

How does mobile truck repair compare in cost to towing to a dealership?

In most cases, mobile service is significantly less expensive once you factor in the tow bill, shop labor rate, and the administrative burden of retrieving the truck. More importantly, a same-day mobile repair versus a multi-day shop queue keeps your truck earning.

Is IFS available for no-start calls in the middle of the night?

Absolutely. We operate 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Call 1-888-589-9281 any time and we will dispatch a technician to your location.

Can you repair air brake components on-site, or is that a shop-only service?

Most air brake repairs — including brake chamber replacement, slack adjuster service, air line repairs, and glad hand fixes — can be completed on-site with the tooling and parts we carry on our service trucks.

Broke down? We're already rolling.
